I thought I was being very crafty with my good deed today. I gathered together some magazines I subscribe to, put them in an envelope and anonymously dropped them off at a friend’s apartment building.
Turns out, I wasn’t quite as clever as I’d thought. (Isn’t that how it usually works?) Once I’d returned home, I realized — d’oh — my address label is affixed to the front of each issue.
That’s not what gave me away, however. It was my handwriting on the envelope. I’d written out my friend’s name instead of employing the time-honoured technique used for ransom notes in the movies — cutting letters out of magazines. But wait, I guess that wouldn’t have been such a good idea, either….
