When I ventured outside to shovel the ice off my neighbour’s steps this morning, little did I know the temperature would spike to four degrees above freezing. (Or that the afternoon rain would wash the steps clean.) Knew I should have checked the weather channel.
Oh well, I needed the exercise anyway.
And since I had to return to the mall today (why does that happen every Christmas Eve?), I passed by the kiddie-ride area again and couldn’t resist leaving another $1 coin on the coin slot to give the next young thrill-seeker a free ride.
I decided to target a different one this time, though. One ride seemed to take you south to Mexico. It was a laughing donkey, complete with a cactus alongside. There was no easy spot to leave a coin, however.
And there was also a very odd one — a galloping Sylvester the cat with a saddle on its back. Kinda freaky, probably gives the tiniest kids nightmares.
In the end, I went with an old classic — a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ride (Leonardo, I think — I’m embarrassed that I know that).
Couldn’t stick around this time to see the next rider’s reaction… I’m guessing, “Cowabunga, dude!” (sorry, could not resist)….
P.S. I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season. Tidings of peace and joy to you all!
P.P.S. Here’s one of my favourite carols, “O Holy Night.” The image is a little shaky, but the sound, sublime. Enjoy!
