I tried to redeem a previous bone-headed good deed today. How can a good deed be bone-headed, you ask?
Well… when you bring a bunch of sugary cookies to your hairdresser, forgetting that she’s diabetic, that’s how.
At the time, she graciously laughed and said, no problem, she’d share them with her customers. But I vowed to get it right the next time.
So that’s what I tried to do today. I stopped at a health food store on the way to my appointment and picked up organic, 100% sugar-free trail mix.
She laughed again when I gave it to her. No, she doesn’t have a nut allergy (thank goodness), but she was just surprised … in a good way.
And don’t worry, that wasn’t my tip!
P.S. I came across this letter in my local paper today and I thought it was a lovely reminder of the meaning of “love thy neighbour.” Enjoy!
“My wife and I are in our late 80s and live next door to a single mother of three teenagers. In the heavy snow, they clear my walk. They return my garbage bins up the driveway to my house. When out shopping, they call to see if we require anything. To the Wilsons: thank you.”
